Dear Friends,
As a board member of the Friends of Camp Hollis, I am writing to ask you to join with us to keep this 70-year-old service to the children of Oswego County strong and growing.
Although undergoing many changes, the philosophy of Camp Hollis has never changed: to give all children a positive, wholesome camp experience they will carry with them for a lifetime.
Camp Hollis began offering a camping experience for Oswego County’s children at no cost since 1946. However, since 2002, because of the County’s budgetary difficulties, there has been a significant reduction in funding. Since 2003, the county has required the camp to begin charging an admission fee. Today, the true cost of attendance is $185 per week per child, but the decided fee for admission is based on a sliding scale ranging from $30 to $90.

Even this minimum fee may exclude some lower-income families, since over 70% of the children attending camp qualify as lower income or social services assisted.
The Friends of Camp Hollis was formed to provide a support system which raises capital, receives grants and accepts in-kind donations to maintain and improve Camp Hollis and its programs while keeping the camp experience within the reach of all Oswego County residents. We are also looking for food donations or gift cards to support feeding volunteers at our annual fundraiser Kids and Trucks.
All donations received will be acknowledged with a thank you letter, media press releases throughout the year and in our “Donors List” sign on display Camp Hollis during the season. We hope that you will consider helping the Friends of Camp Hollis keep the experience of residential camping in reach of all Oswego County Children.
