Surrounded by pine forests and majestic mountains, Camp Alsing is a premier, co-ed residential summer camp located in Unity, Maine. Our specially trained staff guide children, ages 9-17 with high-functioning autism and other social communication challenges, to develop connections and expand their boundaries.
We provide a fun social learning environment that fosters personal growth through a wide variety of activities and guidance. At Camp Alsing campers enjoy a day filled with classic summer camp activities with our social strategies seamlessly woven throughout.
Our goal is to provide your child with new skills that they can use away from camp and return home filled with memories and friendships that they find nowhere else.
Our campers are socially interested but need support to make friends and show their best selves. Social situations are filled with “unwritten rules” that are not always apparent to our campers. Our program is designed to help campers build awareness & flexibility, manage anxiety in social situations, and connect in a meaningful way with each other and the camp community.
Some of our campers may have social communication challenges that don’t fit a diagnosis or label, and others may have been identified as having Social Communication Disorder, Non-verbal Learning Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism.
