Camp Highlander | A PLACE LIKE NO OTHER

We believe love is the purest, simplest and most universal language.

As such, our mission is simple – we seek to ensure that every single person who passes through our gates will learn to truly love those around them, without hesitation or reservation, and will receive that same measure of love from everyone who calls our mountain home. To love and be loved – this is the very reason we exist.

camp highlanderThrough this love, we seek to build boys and girls (ages 5-16) of courage, honesty, integrity, and faith, and to help them become all that God intends them to be. In all we do, from the social structure of camp to our programming, from opening day to closing day, we seek to uphold, promote, teach and exemplify these four core values.

Perhaps the most fundamental way we achieve this is through our cabin unit. While many camps allow their campers to set their own schedules each day, we operate out of a cabin unit philosophy. Up to ten campers and at least two counselors travel around every day as a singular unit – participating in activities as a group, sharing meals together, and developing authentic, genuine, deeply-rooted friendships.

While this cabin unit structure fosters an incredible environment of brotherhood/sisterhood, we also offer our campers the freedom and flexibility to chart their own courses and choose their own activities. For our multi-week sessions (excluding Kick Off Camp) our campers enjoy two days each week (what we call ‘Camper Choice’ days) where they can sign-up for activities as they choose.

And whether it’s part of their individually-designed schedule or with their cabin unit, our campers enjoy plenty of choices! Camp Highlander is located on 240 acres of pristine North Carolina wilderness, with the Blue Ridge Mountains practically sitting in our backyard. We offer over 40 incredible activities – both on and off-camp – including kayaking, canoeing, archery, whitewater rafting, rock climbing and so much more!

With summer camp sessions as short as one week and as long as seven (plus special family camp weekends) we have a variety of options to fit any budget and schedule. Click the link below to learn more.
