Empow Studios brings technology, arts, and play together to help young learners discover and build on their creative talents.
The need for basic technology literacy is great, and the list of tools and technologies that can excite and engage children is ever-growing. In our project-based STEM programs, students learn to design, build, and code projects that they are proud to share with family & friends – while they learn the fundamentals of engineering and computer science in the process.
At our two studios in Lexington & Newton, and our camp and class locations across MA, Empow Studios is where kids learn to design, build, and code.
Empow’s Teaching Philosophy
Empow’s learning philosophy based on creative play borrows from John Dewey’s instrumentalism, Piaget’s constructivism, and Papert’s constructionism in asserting that passions, perceptions, and experience play a crucial role in how a person builds and maintains his or her understanding of the world. Even in the supposedly coldly rational world of STEM, love and play drive learning. They are what makes our lives meaningful, worthwhile, and fun. That’s where we start.
Camps, Classes, and Clubs
Empow Studios offers an expanding list of vacation and summers camps, along with year-round classes, clubs, workshops, and after-school STEM camps. Here is an overview of camps and clubs:
Tech & Design Camp – A camp where kids CHOOSE what they want to create: Video Game Design, Robotics, Animation, Coding, 3D Printing, Music Production, and other exciting projects are all fair game!
Minecraft Camp – The most popular game for kids is also the perfect environment to design, build, and code! Whether you’re just starting your explorations or looking to create mods.
Java Coding Camp – For the young programmer who wants to take their skills to the next level. Grades 4 and up.
Girls STEM Camp – Bringing some balance to the world of STEM where girls use technology as a creative tool.

AR/ VR Camp – A two-week immersion into the future of technology. Work collaboratively to build games in VR & AR using some of the most advanced tools to date.
After-School Club – Empow Studios’ After-School Club (ASC) is a unique care and enrichment program that brings together technology, arts, and play. Whether your child is programming their first robot or creating a self-watering garden in Minecraft, we nurture their creative talent, build up their imagination, and spark interests that can open up new possibilities, while accommodating individual differences.
The ASC schedule includes physical breaks and snack time. Homework is done and checked daily, with support from our staff. During “Project Time,” kids will continue working on their favorite video games, robots, and Scratch projects, or start a new project within our Tech & Design curriculum. Kids end the day with “Choice Time,” which includes group games, Minecraft, LEGO free-building, and other creative activities.
Clubs, Nano camp, and Classes
Many of our campers enjoy Empow Studios’ varied weekend clubs (Robotics, Coding, Video Game Design, Minecraft, YouTube and Girls STEAM), Nano camp (day camps) and variety of workshops, classes, and private lessons.
